Welcome to my website. You may be asking yourself what you will find here or why I have decided to publish this site. A good question!
I have been in the IT industry longer than I care to consider some days. For many of those years, I considered that I was in the business of developing software applications. It was only after a number of years that I realised that I was actually in the business of collecting, managing and disseminating data, and that the applications were nothing more than the means to this end.
During this journey, I have encountered data in many of its forms: structured, unstructured and semi-structured. Each has its own delights and distractions. I decided some time ago that it might be worth putting together a website to discuss some of the various tools and approaches that I had encountered (or in some cases inflicted upon me!), just in case these ramblings were of use to others.
More recently I have become quite involved in amateur astronomy, and more particularly with groups that focus on the serious data gathering end of the field. This website then also will act as a repository of some of my endeavours in this field.
I hope that what you find on the pages of this site is of use.
Clear skies...
